Giving Back

I went on my first Austin Smiles trip in 1999. I was hooked from day one. So, all these years later I am still going on at least one medical mission a year. What do I do on a mission because I am not a nurse or doctor? I solve problems, just like I do in real estate. I help the medical team get supplies, feed people, and I scrub instruments.  I comfort parents, and color with kids while they wait in line.  I help find lost luggage, suggest a restaurant for dinner, and get medicine from the pharmacy. Over the years. I have made lifelong friends. These mission trips are life-changing for the patients and the volunteers 

Austin High Continuing Education Foundation is a small foundation with 12 volunteers that raises money for Austin High Students to attend college or trade school. We give $2000 to around 12 students a year divided over the first two semesters of college to mostly lower-income students graduating from Austin High.  Everyone on our board attended Stephen F. Austin High School in Austin Tx. We have given out more than $300,000 in scholarships. This is an amazing foundation that helps students who might not go to college get the opportunity to further their education.
